It seems like a wild idea, but theoretically, if AI can help with and advise on other matters, why not dog training? So, we decided to give it a try, and today we’re sharing what ChatGPT has to say about teaching your dog manners, tricks, and more. You might be surprised at its efficiency and ability to provide seemingly thoughtful feedback, however, it does have its limits.

Are There AI Systems That Can Train Dogs? 

Researchers at Colorado State University designed an AI system to train dogs to obey certain oral commands. It’s a bit more involved than ChatGPT. The system doesn’t involve human assistance. It’s an AI computer system called the Nvidia Jetson Nano with hardware and software that trains dogs.

With a video camera, a speaker, and a treat dispenser the system gives a command through the speaker. Then, the camera records the dog’s reaction and compares it to training data. If the dog does what it’s supposed to a treat is dispensed. Initial tests of the AI system have it at a 92 percent accuracy rate.

Can you imagine a day when your AI system could train your dog while you’re at work? What would this mean for shelters that have hundreds of untrained dogs that could be made more adoptable through AI training?
