If you’re a cat owner who’s always looking for the next best thing to delight your furry companion, you’ve probably heard of Churu Cat Treats. These lickable delights have been taking the pet world by storm, but do they really live up to the hype?
Below, we take a deep dive into the delicious world of Churu cat treats by answering your most burning questions: Who makes Churu lickable cat treats? Do cats really love them? And are there any worthy competitors? Let’s find out together.
What Are Churu Cat Treats?
Churu cat treats, also known simply as “Churu,” are a unique and innovative type of cat treat. Unlike traditional treats that come in solid or crunchy form, Churu treats are a semi-liquid, creamy substance that comes in a convenient, single-serving tube. Picture a yogurt tube for cats, and you’re on the right track. These delectable tubes of delight come in various flavors and are designed to be fed directly from the tube or squeezed into a dish for your cat to enjoy.
They come in a variety of flavors, including chicken with salmon, chicken with beef, and chicken with cheese. They also have options for hairball control and skin and coat health. There are other forms of Churu cat treats besides the lickable tubes, as well, including Fun Bites and Bisque treats.
Who Makes Churu Cat Treats?
Churu cat treats are crafted by a company called “Inaba.” Based in Japan, Inaba Foods is a family-owned business that has been in the pet food industry for over 65 years. They specialize in creating pet treats that not only taste great but also prioritize the health and well-being of our feline friends. Inaba’s commitment to quality and innovation has made them a trusted name in the pet industry, and the popularity of their treats is a testament to their dedication.
Are Churu Cat Treats Good for Cats?
So, are these delectable treats actually good for cats? You’ll be happy to know that Churu cat treats are made with minimal, high-quality ingredients that provide your cat with essential nutrients. For example, there are a total of nine ingredients in the lickable tuna recipe, including water, tuna, tapioca, natural tuna flavors, green tea extract, and a vitamin E supplement. There are also no artificial preservatives or additives, and many of their chewable varieties are grain-free.
In fact, many veterinarians use Churu cat treats in their clinics. “We love to use Churu treats in the clinic when seeing our patients. [They are] a soft food treat that cats love,” stated Dr. Nicole Savageau, VMD, a veterinarian who provides mobile pet services. They’re also only six calories per tube and each formula is made from human-grade ingredients, allowing you to feel good about giving your cat a tasty treat without compromising on its health.

What Does Churu Do for Cats?
Now that we know Churu Cat Treats are made with quality ingredients, let’s dive into what they can do for your feline friend. These lickable treats can serve multiple purposes, including motivating your cat’s appetite, providing hydration, aiding in rewarding and bonding, and delivering medication. Churu treats are a delicious, flavorful puree that can be used to help cats with poor appetites due to illness or stress. They also have an extremely high moisture content, which can help with dehydration and recovery. Cats are notorious for not drinking enough water, which can lead to health issues like urinary tract problems.
They’re also fantastic for training and bonding. Cats are notoriously finicky, but the enticing flavors are known to win even the pickiest eaters over. Using Churu as a reward during training or simply as a bonding experience can strengthen the connection between you and your cat. They can also be a great distraction during trying tasks, such as nail clipping or vet visits.
Finally, these lickable treats can make medication delivery so much easier. If your cat requires medication, you’re probably familiar with the struggle of administering pills or liquids. Churu treats can be a game-changer in this regard. Many cat owners have found success by hiding crushed pills or liquid medications in the creamy treat, making the whole process less stressful for all involved.

Do I Need to Refrigerate Churu Cat Treats?
Do Churu cat treats need to be refrigerated? This is a common question among Churu enthusiasts. The answer is yes, but only after opening. Unopened tubes need to be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Then, keep them refrigerated for up to a day after opening to maintain their freshness. Basically, treat them as you would human food. If you notice any changes in color, odor, or texture, that’s probably a sign the Churu treat has gone bad. Simply discard it and give your cat a fresh tube.

The big question on every cat owner’s mind is whether their feline friend will truly love Churu cat treats. The resounding answer from many cat owners and their kitties is a definite “YES!” Let’s take a look at some of the reviews.
One customer on Amazon stated “My cats are insane for these treats. I start to open a tube of Churu and my cats are suddenly at my feet, impatiently waiting. They love these treats. While the tubes are ‘lickable,’ it’s easier to squirt the Churu onto a treat dish for them. They’re too eager to wait.” Another person said “My cats love these. It’s nice to be able to bond with them a bit more since you are holding the tubes for them. Love.”

Is There Anything Else Out There Like Churu?
So, are there any copycats out there? While Churu Cat Treats are undoubtedly unique, the pet industry is always evolving, and there are similar products out there worth mentioning. One such product is PureBites Plus Squeezables. These pouches contain semi-liquid cat food that can be squeezed out for your kitty to enjoy. PureBites states that their squeezable pouches are made with five “high-quality ingredients, including natural chicken, water, pumpkin, tapioca starch, and inulin” to promote digestive health. It can be used as a treat right from the pouch or as a flavorful topper on food.
While they serve a similar purpose to the lickable tubes, they don’t seem to have the same variety of flavors or fanfare that Churu enjoys.

Our clinic cats are addicted to their Churu treats! They get one every day. One has kidney disease and she usually won’t take her meds in her regular cat food, but she cleans the bowl if we mix the meds in her Churu! My co-workers laughed because on the days I’m off they notice both cats roaming restlessly through the clinic meowing at everyone…took them a while to figure out they wanted someone to give them their Churus since I was off🤣One cat sleeps on my desk and he will wake up out of a dead sleep at 2pm and sit right in front of my monitor and stare me down until he gets his Churu🤣
Thanks for sharing this Julia! We’re so glad to hear that the cats at your clinic are getting spoiled with Churus!
Churus are the best food invention ever for cat lovers!!!!
