But who exactly are Albert and Mia, and what makes their bond so unique?

The Origin of Outdoor Bengal

The origin of Outdoor Bengal began with heartbreaking loss and blossomed into a new meaning of life for Albert. It all started in 2019 when he moved away from his friends and family in Barcelona to be with his girlfriend in the U.S. Not long after, they broke up and his dad passed away. That was also the same year Covid hit.

After weeks of solitude indoors, Albert knew he needed to do something for his mental health. That’s when Mia came into his life. She was the smallest cat in a litter of Bengal kittens, and Albert happily took her home in August of 2020. To pass the time (and the frustration of a bored high-energy cat), he dove head first into training Mia. By the time they were able to get out of the house, Mia was easily walking on a leash, and Albert decided it was time to travel. Since then, they’ve taken a 3,000-mile road trip throughout the western United States, sailed around Long Island, and visited Spain.

Who Is Mia the Adventure Cat?

Now, let’s turn our attention to Mia, one-half of our adventure-seeking duo. Mia is a stunning Bengal cat with a coat that resembles a wild leopard’s. Her markings are as bold as her spirit, and she exudes a sense of curiosity and adventure. Albert, who shares her passion for exploration, knew she was something special from the moment they met.

As Albert candidly writes, Mia was not an easy cat at first. She was full of energy and understandably bored being stuck inside. She would break anything she came into contact with, constantly beg for food, and even steal food off of his plate. Albert’s patience began to wear thin.

Instead of giving up on his friend, however, he channeled her unbridled energy through clicker training and leash-walking. With this new outlet, Mia blossomed into a calm and confident kitty. Now, her adventurous spirit shines and her explorations range from riding the subway to sailing across calm waters and exploring sandy beaches. Her energy seems boundless, and her enthusiasm for outdoor exploration is infectious. Mia’s unique personality has made her a rising star in the world of adventure cats, inspiring others to take their feline companions on journeys into the great unknown.

Who Is Mia’s Owner?

Albert Colominas is a 35-year-old Senior Brand Manager from Barcelona. In 2019, he moved to New York and has lived there ever since, with the exception of his countless adventures. Of course, his beloved Mia drastically changed his life in 2020, and he’s now a talented videographer, photographer, Youtuber, and of course, cat trainer.

Albert’s also an avid traveler and adventurist, traveling all around the world to places including Greece, Mexico, and the Pyrenees. He’s a prime example of someone who’s followed their passions and is now making a difference in other people’s lives. By providing endless resources to other adventurous cat parents who want to do the same, Albert is certainly living the dream and giving back at the same time.

How Did Mia Save Albert’s Life?

Albert shared just how important Mia is to him in a heartwarming video. Still grieving from the end of his relationship and the loss of his father, the pandemic lockdown shook him even more. Unfortunately, grief and months of solitude indoors are a perfect recipe to send anyone into a dark place, and Albert was no exception. When he decided to adopt Mia, he was simply looking for companionship, but he got a lot more.

Mia saved his life by giving it meaning again. He wanted to show her how beautiful the world was. He wanted to travel and explore with Mia by his side. In the video, he writes, “She saved me from a dark hole I had fallen into. Now, I’m doing everything I can to help others achieve the same.”

Why Are Bengal Cats Special?

Bengal cats, like Mia, are undeniably unique in the world of feline companions. Their exceptional characteristics set them apart from other breeds, making them highly sought-after.

First and foremost, Bengal cats have a wild and exotic appearance with striking spots and marbled patterns. Their unique coat is often the first thing people notice about them, and their stunning blue/green eyes are just as remarkable.

They’re also known for their agility and athleticism. They are natural climbers, jumpers, and explorers, which makes them excellent adventure companions. In addition, Bengal cats are incredibly curious and intelligent. They love to investigate their surroundings and solve puzzles, which makes them destructive when bored, and downright fascinating when engaged.

Lastly, Bengals are known for being vocal and social cats. They often enjoy interacting with their owners and making their presence known through meows and other vocalizations. Despite their wild appearance and adventurous spirit, they’re also very affectionate and loving towards their owners, allowing them to form strong bonds with their human companions.

Many people think Bengal cats can only bond with one owner, but that’s not the case.

Do Bengal Cats Only Bond With One Person?

One common misconception about Bengal cats is that they only bond with one person. While it’s true that some cats may show a preference for one particular person in the household, Bengals are known for their social and affectionate nature. They can form strong bonds with multiple family members and even other pets.

What Are the Cons of Owning a Bengal Cat?

Owning a Bengal cat can be a rewarding experience, but it also comes with its share of challenges. For example, their high energy level and need for constant stimulation can be overwhelming for some owners, especially if they don’t know how to channel that energy. These cats are incredibly active and require ample playtime and mental engagement to prevent boredom, which can lead to destructive behavior.

Bengals also tend to be quite vocal and demanding, which may be off-putting to those seeking a quieter feline companion. Their strong hunting instincts can pose a challenge when it comes to coexisting with other small pets, making it important to consider the existing pet dynamic in a household before bringing a Bengal into the mix.
